Do you know you can increase your sales with eBay Stores ?
If you're trying to grow your part- or full-time eBay business, an eBay Store can give you a big boost. According to a 2005 eBay survey, 75% of store sellers said that opening an eBay store increased their sales!
When you open an eBay store, you're essentially getting your own personal e-commerce site on eBay. You can customize your store with your name and logo so the focus is on YOU and your products!
You don't have to be a PowerSeller or be super-advanced to open a store, either. To qualify, all you need is a feedback score of 20, OR be ID verified (eBay.com), OR just have a PayPal account in good standing.
There are three levels of eBay stores, each level offering more opportunities for personalization. If you're just getting started, the basic level (at $15.95) per month is probably all you'll need.
An eBay store allows you to customize your own web space on eBay while still tapping in to eBay's massive audience -- for a fraction of the cost of running your own e-commerce website.
You'll also be able to:
* Showcase ALL your listings in one place, at a unique URL.
* List your items for 30 days at a time with one low insertion fee
* Organize your store into categories to make it easier for your customers to find what they need.
* Allow your buyers to search your inventory using keywords.
* Access free sales and traffic reports so you can fine-tune your sales process.
* Send email promotions to those who have asked for your newsletter or marked you as a favorite seller.
* Subscribe to Selling Manager Pro and automate many of the repetitive tasks that take up so much time.
Another benefit to opening an eBay store is that you'll gain access to free marketing tools. The promotion box is particularly powerful because it allows you to display pictures of more of your items within one listing.
A promo box is essentially a customized window (similar to a banner ad) which can be placed in several locations on a listing. Use them to display sale or specialty items, to highlight items that are ending soon, to encourage newsletter signups, or for anything you want to draw extra attention to.
Promotion boxes are free to use, but regular fees still apply to photos used within them.
There are a variety of ways you can use promo boxes to display your items:
* Gallery -- Feature a single listing with a link to the item title and picture
* List -- Show two item titles with links to your listing
* Item Showcase -- List up to four large gallery images in a single extra-wide promotion box
* Fully customizable with HTML -- Display listings according to your own specs.
* Slideshow -- Show a sampling of your listings with this new promo box that scrolls through several picture listings.
* Countdown -- Use this animated promo box to count down the time left in your listings to give visitors a reason to bid NOW.
eBay has just made some adjustments to the setup process, making it easier to select the type of box that suits your needs.
One drawback to owning a store is that your inventory items don't show up in the regular listings unless there are fewer than 30 regular listings. So you need to keep listing using the auction or fixed-price format to attract traffic to your store.
Nonetheless, eBay Stores are probably the best way to get the most exposure on eBay and gain valuable repeat customers.

Second, offer combined shipping discounts to increase sales and take the sting out of USPS rate hike
eBay has made a few changes to the combined shipping system, which gives you more control over what you can offer your customers.
Some of the changes include the ability to:
* Set unique shipping rules for different items.
* Set special shipping rates for sales that meet criteria you set up (e.g., free shipping with purchases over $50).
* Set messages that encourage buyers to make multiple purchases to get your discounts.
Your customers may be even more eager to take advantage of combined shipping offers now that USPS has hiked up their postal fees.
Additional postage will be charged on letters weighing more than 1 oz., non-machinable letters, and large envelopes and packages. The new rates will take effect May 14, 2007.
For a list of frequently asked questions about the upcoming rate increase, visit the USPS website.
6. eBay UK listings no longer displayed on eBay dot-com site -- booksellers pay the price
Some UK sellers are noticing a dip in sales because of a recent change to how UK listings are displayed.
Until now, all items listed on eBay.co.uk were also displayed on eBay.com by default. But now that the number of UK-based listings has grown, eBay says that it's more difficult for US-based sellers to find regional listings.
Hardest hit by the change are secondhand UK booksellers who are seeing cuts in sales by as much as 50%, according to reports in OldBookNews.
The change really just puts the UK on the same level as several other non-US eBay sites of similar size.
Going forward, UK sellers who want to guarantee that their listings appear on eBay.com will need to list them there.
